I’m Jamie, founder and lead photographer for Airavata Studios. My passion for photography started when I took my first darkroom photography class as a freshman in high school. There was something absolutely magical about turning that blank white paper into an image through processing in absolute darkness. From there, my love for film and photography grew. My admiration for famous photographers Ansel Adams and Sally Mann made me want to dive head first into my craft. Being able to freeze time into a single beautiful moment, capturing the emotion and essence of a particular memory, gave me life! 

In 2012 I decided it was time to turn my passions into my career, and I haven’t looked back. Being able to work with clients from all walks of life has given me a huge appreciation for what I do. Having a 4-year-old has also put things in a new light for me. Things change so quickly, our little ones don’t stay little forever, and, in an instant, everything is different. Photography gives us the nostalgia we all crave in this ever-changing thing we call life. The most rewarding thing for me about being a photographer is that, not only do I capture an image, I also deliver a feeling that can be passed down over the years for generations to come.
