It’s December. Close your eyes. Listen. The sound of silence is calming. Breath in. The cold fills your lungs. Open your eyes, and admire a snowfall in slow motion. Watch as each flake falls gracefully from the heavens. The Autumn leaves have fallen, and everyone is in full swing of holiday cheer. In this moment right here, the anxiety of shopping for gifts, of cold toes and wet socks, of not being able to park straight because you can’t see the lines, everything that you could possibly despise about the winter disappears. In this moment of silence, you are filled with pure bliss, with the beauty of what was, what is, and what is to come. Each branch blanketed with soft snow, as if to keep the trees warm from the mighty cold. I welcome you puffy coats, mittens, and boots, cold noses, hot cocoa and mistletoes. I welcome the trees; bare, naked and vulnerable, every branch, and twig, and trunk exposed in all its beauty. And the birds, brave enough to stick around and sing their sweet melody. I welcome the silence. Our winter wonderland is here.
